On March 17, Mr. Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn told the press that Thai Foreign Minister Sihasak Phuangketkeow had discussed the issue of purchasing Russian crude oil in a meeting in Europe the day before. The negotiation process is still ongoing, and the Russian side is also ready to supply this commodity.
Russian crude oil has been under Western sanctions since the conflict in Ukraine in 2022. However, to cool down global oil prices, the United States has allowed countries to purchase Russian oil that is being transported by sea until April 11.
